Pre-Purchase Survey

This is the most comprehensive type of inspection and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel. Condition and overall operation of the vessel should be examined. This covers structural system, electrical systems (AC & DC), the propulsion system, the fuel system, other machinery, navigation equipment, on-board systems, cosmetic appearance, electronics, and overall maintenance as well as an out-of-water inspection and a sea trial (if requested).

Insurance Survey

This inspection is performed so the insurance company can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. They are interested in the vessels compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. They are also interested in the structural integrity and the safety of the vessel for its intended usage.

Appraisal Inspection

This inspection is performed to gather enough information to justify or determine the fair market value of the vessel. This is normally needed for financing, estate settlements, donations and legal cases. This is a short survey with minimal inspection.

Marine Survey, LLC | Damage Inspection

Damage Inspection

This is performed to assess the extent of damage, recommend repairs, estimate repair cost, and if requested, possible cause.

Preliminary (Pre-Offer) Inspection

This is a service primarily for out of town clients who wish to have someone with an unbiased opinion look at vessel to see if it appears to be as advertised. This can save the time and expense of flying in to see it. This is not a survey, and there is no written report. We will forward pictures and a brief description to help the client decide if the vessel is worth pursuing.

Engine Oil Analysis

Oil analysis is used to monitor motor oils in order to determine wear of metal components. This is not limited to engines but can also highlight potential problems with gear reduction units, hydraulic systems and fuel. These tests are available for engines, generators, transmissions, drives, etc. Diesel fuel can also be tested for contaminants.
